Discover Our Europe – Online Conference
Slovenian organisation
Društvo za razvijanje prostovoljnega dela Novo mesto hosted an online
international conference in a project Discover our Europe on 15th
and 16th of March 2022. The aim of the conference was to bring the
EU closer to its citizens.
The guests
heard various speakers and participated in workshops. Slovenian member of the
EU parliament Irena Joveva prepared a contribution for the Conference, where
she focused on the importance of active participation and how it can shape the
future of Europe.
The
participants in the online event also learned more about different
opportunities for young people in the EU, including Erasmus+ and ESC projects,
and were introduced to the new EU programme CERV by the Slovenian organisation
PINA who is the national coordinator for the programme. The youths, who have
previously participated in European projects with the Slovenian organisation
DRPDNM, reflected on their past experiences in a round table.
The
Slovenian partner in the project Discover Our Europe, DRPDNM, has a long
experience in working with migrants. They presented their work in integration
of immigrants and also showed personal experiences of three immigrants in a
video contribution.
An
influential Slovenian civil society organisation, called Institute of the 8th
of March, presented their activities that enact legal change on the national
level. To engage the participants, a World Café Workshop was also organised,
where the participants shared their views on the current topics important to
the EU citizens.
Overall,
more than 150 people participated in the conference on both days – many of whom
were students from various schools and faculties in Novo mesto.
